Festive Friday: How to Style A Maxi Skirt

We have been loving the fun ways celebs have been styling maxi skirts...from the red carpet, to front row at NYFW to shopping around town, the maxi skirt is versatile and can be styled for any occasion. Inspired by looks from Jessica Alba, Katie Holmes and Miranda Kerr, we styled BCBG Generation's High Slit Maxi three different ways. For our first look take a note from Jessica Alba and pair your skirt with a black sweater like Sanctuary Clothing's Sedona Mesh Sweater and strappy black heels. Don't be afraid of color like Katie Holmes and wear your skirt with a bright top like Tees By Tina's Long Sleeve V-Neck in green apple and neutral heels. For a casual look, pair your maxi with a plain tank like LA Made's Boyfriend Tank and a bright colored cross body bag. Which look is your favorite?

Burgundy Smokey Eye

Rich jewel colors have been popular in both fashion and beauty this season. After seeing the lovely Kaley Cuoco wearing burgundy eye shadow that matched her Vera Wang burgundy gown at the Emmy Awards I became smitten with this dramatic and sexy look. Kaley is not the only celebrity to follow this trend. Starlets like Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Kristen Stewart have turned heads on the red carpet in burgundy smokey eyes. To get your look, Harper's Bazaar expert Jessica Prince says to "Rim your eyes with brown liner, then apply a pinky-burgundy shade on your upper lids and blend under lower lashes. Off the runway, 'avoid placing shadow too close to your inner corners, since it can make you look tired,' advises Barose. What do you think of this makeup look?

Must-Have Monday: Soft Colors

Edgy, avant garde fashion has been popular on the red carpet ever since "Punk" was the theme at the Met Gala this year. However, the Emmy Awards proved that soft romantic fashions are making a comeback! We loved the soft colors, lace fabrics and delicate details that conquered the red carpet last night. From Claire Danes ethereal Armani Prive gown to Rose Bryne's simplistic pale pink Calvin Klien number to Kerry Washington's delicate floral Marchesa wonder, we were captured by the effortless beauty from the bevy of A-listers. While black tie parties might not be in our near future, these party dresses will keep you on trend and have you feeling like a red carpet princess! Check out Max & Cleo's Rebecca Knit dress, Max & Cleo's Angela Woven dress and Max & Cleo's Maddy Knit dress to get this look.

Festive Friday: Black Pencil Skirt

The black pencil skirt isn't just a work staple but a closet staple. This versatile skirt can can be styled for the office, a party or date night. The curve hugging silhouette and just above the knee length gives it just the right amount of sex appeal to be dressed up for the night but appropriate for the daytime. Celebrities Eva Mendes, Olivia Wilde and Kourtney Kardashian have been spotted wearing this flattering skirt. For a work look, Eva styles her skirt with a white blouse, statement necklace, wide belt and closed toed heels. For a fun party look try tucking in a vintage band t shirt like Olivia and wearing geometric gold jewelry. For a date night outfit, wear a leather black pencil skirt and pair it with a animal print top and lace strap heel.  To get this look, check out Tart's Lucia skirt and BCBG's Simone Textured Power Skirt. How would you style your black pencil skirt?

Straight Middle Part Hair

With the return of sleek, minimalist looks on the red carpet, there is also the reemergence of sleek hair. Pin straight locks and a middle part plays up the simplistic silhouettes and neutral shades of such designers as Narciso Rodriguez, Lanvin, and Burberry. Celebrities Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and Naomie Harris have been spotted rocking this hairstyle to compliment the clean lines of their minimalist ensembles. To achieve enviable sleek hair, start by using a smoothing shampoo and conditioner that will help hydrate your hair. Next, towel dry your hair and apply a body building formula focusing on the roots and then combing it through your whole head of hair. Next, flip your head upside down and blow dry the hair with a paddle brush making sure to brush your hair in all different directions to create less frizz. When your hair is 90 percent dry, flip your head upright and brush your hair in a windshield wiper motion. Lastly, spritz a heat protectant spray, flat iron your hair to straighten and divide your hair in the middle. (www.cosmopolitan.com)

Must-Have Monday: Color Block Dress

When we spotted "it" girl Allison Williams in a color block dress at the Reed Krakoff runway show during Fashion Week, we couldn't help but be reminded of Trina Turk and Max & Cleo's color block dresses. We love the color block trend and are thrilled to see it making a comeback. Opt for neutral palette like Allison for a classic look that can easily be styled modestly for work or funked up for night. By adding statement earrings or a cuff and switching out closed toe heels for stilettos you can transform this dress from sophisticated work professional to sultry temptress. To get this look check out Trina Turk's Derain Dress in Noir  and Moon's Color Block Sleeveless dress .  If you prefer a dash of color to liven up your outfit, check out Max & Cleo's Mindy Knit City Dress. Highlighting Inner Corner of Eye

What’s the fastest solution to make tired or small eyes look instantly bigger? Recently, highlighting inner corner of eyes with white shadow has been the IT trend. Celebrities like Sarah Hyland, Ashley Tisdale, and Shay Mitchell have been utilizing the technique at red carpet events and on a daily basis for the illusion of brighter eyes. It has also been seen on runway for designers like Bottega Veneta. To achieve the look, first find a white shadow color that you like best. Off white colors, like eggshell, vanilla or sand would work well with the look too. The shadow color would work best if it had a creamy consistency or a highlight specific cream product. Many people recommend Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow in Sandy Gold or NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in HollywoodLand. I personally use a very affordable $2 Wet n’ Wild Cream Shadow Pencil in Pixie Dust. This highlighter technique comes after applying the normal eyeshadow and liner routine, but before mascara. Apply the shadow with a brush or pat with index finger into the inner corner of the lids with eyes closed (press directly to inner corners). It is crucial to blend the white into the rest of the eye makeup after applying. Finally, but optional, set the cream shadow with a powder white shadow to set the look. You should see that your eyes look a lot more brightened with the finished look. These easy steps are a fast solution to update a dull makeup routine and works for all occasions, from work to a dinner date. Try this inexpensive look and tell us know how it goes!

Must-Have Monday: Metallic Denim

Metallic jeans will be spotted frequently as the fall season rolls around. These shiny pair of pants will be a hit when paired with oversized sweaters, mellow colored clothing and leather jackets. The trend is also a good and easy way to transition your summer wardrobe into fall, despite the misconception of metallics being hard to style. By adding a chambray shirt, which we have worn religiously throughout spring and summer, to our metallic jeans, we have a pairing that is instantly and effortlessly chic. If you want an even easier pairing, just add a plain white top to the shiny jeans for a clean look. Other pieces that would look great with the pants include peplum tops, stripes, chunky sweaters, etc. The list can go on forever.

YouCeleb offers a some great metallic jean options that would not only keep you looking on trend and sophisticated but also versatile, as it is day and night appropriate. BCBG’s Foiled Skinny Jean is the most ideal first pair; the gunmental and gold colors are not too out there but the metallic still gives the perfect kick of trendiness. If you’re willing to step it up a notch and go for a bolder color, Raven Denim Mika in shimmering rose would be a perfect choice. This trend automatically updates any look and will be your fall must-have item. I say, it’s the best of both worlds. Will you try these glistening metallic pants today?
